A commenter to the above-mentioned article opines that the Anonymous shtick is getting old, that while the ideal may be praise-worthy, the actual impact is non-existent. And how could it make an impact, this commenter asks, when the group is only an online phenomenon? This is a valid critique. How, indeed, could Anonymous orchestrate a 35-city protest without placing real live bodies in those cities? Furthermore, what’s the use of planning a “Day of Rage” that turns out to be nothing more than a Day of a Very Minor Itch?
This is upsetting because I’ve come to expect more from Anonymous. Couldn’t they have at least protested on that promised day in a way that suits their ilk – like some big hack or electronic super heist or something? And even if there really was no plan for August 8, if it was just some kind of lulz, then where was the joke in it? If you are going to fail a protest, you should at least do something funny.
Anonymous aside, something did happen on August 8, and that thing was Sunshine. Sunshine … what an ironic name. So, this Sunshine told Breitbart Texas reporters that she believes all white people should be killed, but she also said that she was there for Anonymous and wondered where they were. I suppose she believes all of Anonymous are African Americans? I assure you, Sunshine, Anonymous is not the Black Panthers.
You can’t hate a whole group of people and ask for their help at the same time. It is people like Sunshine that make this country suck. How can you oppose hatred and violence while also embodying it? How can you show up at a protest that is supposed to be against racism and oppression, but advocate just that from your own pulpit? It’s so ignorant that it almost leads me to believe that she is a pawn. I mean, she can’t be serious, right?
The scary thing is, she is serious, and she’s not alone in her stance. Any race that wants to kill another race is a proponent of genocide, and there is absolutely nothing funny about that. Anonymous staged a crappy protest on August 8, but all they managed to do is dredge up the likes of Sunshine. We need real heroes to lead this country out of ignorance. We need a real protest, a real Revolution. We need peace fighters and love advocates, not Sunshine.
